The Thomas Sappington House Museum
A stunning—and rarely-found— example of Federal architecture in Missouri, the historic structure and gardens appear as they did nearly 200 years ago. Built with slave labor, it is thought to be the oldest brick home in St. Louis County. Meticulously restored and renovated, the site allows visitors to look back in time to see how the Sappington family lived in the early 1800’s.
The Sappington House is part of a larger complex that includes the nationally recognized Library of Americana and The Barn Restaurant. Visitors can choose from a mouthwatering array of freshly prepared farm-to-table breakfasts, lunches, and hand-crafted pastries baked goods. Whether guests are looking for a post-bike-ride-breakfast, or a custom-catered special event—our staff is dedicated to meeting the customer’s every need. Perfect for tours, school field trips, and special events.
