Branch History

The Samuel C. Sachs Branch is located in Chesterfield, Missouri, on a three-acre site donated by Louis Sachs, late CEO of Sachs Properties, Inc., in honor of his father, Samuel Sachs. The 20th branch in the library system opened on November 11, 2002. Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum, were the architects for the building which was the last branch to be funded from the 1973 building tax levy. In 2011 the Nancy Greenwood Teen Center opened at the branch, named after former Chesterfield mayor Nancy Greenwood. In cooperation with Chesterfield Arts, the branch also has on display several sculptures by nationally and internationally known artists, as well as displays by local artists.
